Cape Abilities Awarded Community Advocacy Award from Eastern Bank Foundation

We are very proud to have been recognized with a 2021 Community Advocacy Award from the Eastern Bank Foundation! This award honored Cape Abilities for its leadership in providing equitable vaccine access in a community-based setting on Cape Cod.

The Eastern Bank Foundation’s annual Community Advocacy Awards celebrate local community leaders whose contributions address needs throughout their communities. We were honored to be one of nine organizations recognized in 2021.

“When COVID-19 hit, our staff rose to the challenge and were true heroes on the front lines of the pandemic. We were fortunate to have early vaccine access, and we knew we had to make it available to our programs quickly to ensure the safety of our community,” said Kim McElholm, President and CEO of Cape Abilities.

In response to COVID-19, Cape Abilities was one of the first human services agencies in the area to offer widespread vaccine access. Cape Abilities successfully vaccinated 760 eligible members of the community by hosting multiple COVID-19 vaccine clinics, and partnered with Whole Health Pharmacy to facilitate an additional two clinics.

Thank you to the Eastern Bank Foundation for the recognition! And, most importantly, thank you to our community of staff, volunteers, and business partners who helped make the clinics a success!
