Cape Abilities Hires Thomas Maul as Chief Financial Officer

Cape Abilities, a nonprofit organization supporting individuals with disabilities across Cape Cod, has hired Thomas Maul as its Chief Financial Officer. Maul joins Cape Abilities from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) where he served for 19 years – 11 of them as Chief Financial Officer.

With over 30 years of experience in the finance industry, Maul has a proven track record of cultivating donor trust, driving financial performance, and improving business efficiencies.

“We are so happy to welcome Thom as our Chief Financial Officer,” said Kim McElholm, Cape Abilities President & CEO. “His dedication to promoting sustainability for our mission will help ensure that our organization has the resources to deliver its life-changing services for years to come. We welcome his experience and energy to our team.”

An alum of the State University of New York College at Oswego, Maul’s professional experience has taken him across the world, giving him a unique global perspective and an appreciation for different cultures, value systems, and approaches to work and life. In his previous role, Maul led a finance team responsible for delivering financial support services to offices in 14 countries around the world.

“I am excited to bring my experience in a CFO role to Cape Abilities,” said Maul. “The work that this position brings is exciting to me. But it’s also important to me that the work advances something bigger than I am – that I leave the world in some way a little bit better than I found it. Being part of a mission is very important to me.”

A resident of Cape Cod for nearly 20 years, Maul has two children and lives in East Sandwich with his wife, Laurie, who is First Vice President and Human Resources Officer at the Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod.
