Our friends at F/V Isabel & Lilee are a family team bringing fresh Atlantic seafood caught by local fishermen to homes across Cape Cod. Their scallops have been a favorite among customers at Cape Abilities Farm, but F/V Isabel & Lilee’s connections with our organization go far beyond an outstanding product on our shelves!
Christopher Merl and Denice Lapierre, Captain & Founder and Head of Operations respectively, formed a connection to our mission many years ago. Chris and Denice used to walk their dogs near one of our program centers and often encountered staff and individuals out in the community.
Those interactions with our staff and individuals left an impact on Chris and Denice. When they were looking for partners to carry their sea scallops, they connected with Cape Abilities Farm.
“I have always valued people who help and want the best for everyone,” said Denice. “To me that means I help where I can. I do it mostly to honor my mother because her mental health kept her from being able to do a lot of things. Feeling valued and having a sense of purpose are extremely important parts of life and happiness for everyone. I think that is my favorite thing about Cape Abilities. They create opportunities for people to feel a sense of purpose and pride and make their lives better.”
Since becoming a vendor at Cape Abilities Farm, Chris and Denice have also spearheaded our Farmers and Fishers pop-ups, helping to spread our mission throughout their circles and introducing new customers to our organization. They have also frequently donated a portion of their scallop sales at these pop-ups back to Cape Abilities to help fund our programs and services.
