Transportation Services
Access to reliable transportation is a key component of living an active, integrated life for people with disabilities. Since Cape Cod has limited options for public transportation, our transportation program is crucial in enabling Cape Abilities to fulfill its mission.
Cape Abilities provides an extensive transportation service to hundreds of our disabled adult program participants across Cape Cod. Our wheelchair-lift and passenger vans travel routes across Cape Cod daily to help Cape Abilities participants in our day and employment programs get to and from their daily program, employment, community resources and activities. We have a fleet of 80 vehicles in order to meet the needs. These vehicles cover 500,000 miles a year!
Our Transportation Services program operates through contracts with the Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA). Our drivers come from diverse backgrounds. Some have been in business, while others were firefighters, police officers, social workers and medical professionals. The individuals we serve form close relationships with our drivers because they see them at the start and end of their day. These dedicated people play an important role in supporting the individuals we serve with professionalism and kindness.
