Twenty years ago, Cape Abilities Farm was built on the belief that strong communities grow when people come together around a shared purpose.
As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we’re reflecting on the partnerships that have helped the Farm thrive. One of those special relationships is with our neighbors at the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC).
Over the years, our partnership has been built on a simple idea: neighbors helping neighbors.
We share a commitment to caring for the land and strengthening our community. APCC’s work in conservation and environmental education complements the Farm’s focus on sustainable agriculture, vocational training, and connecting people to the land.
Farm Director Rachel Gillis has worked closely with APCC through the Cape Cod Native Plant Growers Co-op.
“I am especially grateful for the opportunity to serve on the advisory board of the Cape Cod Native Plant Growers Co-op,” Rachel shared. “Working alongside APCC and other partners dedicated to increasing the use of native plants across the region has been incredibly rewarding.”
That spirit of collaboration is something APCC values as well.
“We are very grateful for our relationship with Cape Abilities Farm, not only as a good neighbor, but also as a collaborator,” shared Kristin Andres, Education Director for APCC. “It’s exciting to see our missions overlap through APCC’s native plant initiative and the development of the Cape Cod Native Plant Growers Co-op. We appreciate the thoughtfulness of the Farm selling native plants, and when people ask us where to purchase them, we love to recommend Cape Abilities Farm.”
As we celebrate 20 years, Cape Abilities Farm is grateful to neighbors like APCC who help make our work possible.
Partnerships like this remind us that the Farm has never grown alone. Support from community members, customers, volunteers, and donors has helped create opportunities for people with disabilities, provide fresh local food, and strengthen connections across Cape Cod.
